Over 1,000 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers from the 2009-2015 batches are set to undergo a comprehensive mid-career training programme (MCTP) in May. The training programme aims to enhance the skills and competencies of civil servants and prepare them for the next phase of their careers.
Eligibility and Notification:
According to an official notification by the Department of Personnel & Training, 1,254 IAS officers have been found eligible for the 19th round of Phase-III training at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration in Mussoorie. Officers from the 2015 batch (first chance), 2014 batch (second chance), 2013 batch (third and last chance), and officers from the 2009 to 2012 batches on a case-by-case basis will undergo the MCTP training.
Aim of the Training Programme:
The MCTP is a vital initiative that aims to equip civil servants with the latest governance practices and service delivery standards in India and around the world. Through various modules, the programme aims to build next-level competency and enhance the capabilities of IAS officers.
Modules of the Training Programme:
The training programme comprises various modules covering different governance aspects, including financial, economic, and risk analysis, financial management, poverty alleviation, e-governance, national security, decentralization, attitudinal changes, leadership, and rural and urban development. The modules are designed to provide officers with practical knowledge and expertise in effectively tackling the challenges of governance in India.
Financial, Economic, and Risk Analysis:
The financial, economic, and risk analysis module focuses on providing officers with the necessary skills to manage financial resources, analyze economic data, and identify and manage risks.
Financial Management:
The financial management module aims to train officers in financial planning, budgeting, and financial reporting, which are essential skills for effective governance.
Poverty Alleviation:
The poverty alleviation module is designed to provide officers with an in-depth understanding of poverty and the necessary skills to implement poverty alleviation programs effectively.
E-Governance:
The e-governance module focuses on using technology to improve governance and service delivery in India. The module aims to provide officers with practical knowledge and skills to implement e-governance projects effectively.
National Security:
The national security module is designed to equip officers with the necessary knowledge and skills to manage security challenges effectively and safeguard the interests of the nation.
Decentralization:
The decentralization module focuses on empowering local governments and promoting decentralization to improve service delivery and governance in India.
Leadership:
The leadership module aims to enhance officers' leadership skills, enabling them to lead and inspire teams effectively.
Rural and Urban Development:
The rural and urban development module is designed to provide officers with an in-depth understanding of the challenges of rural and urban development in India and the necessary skills to implement effective development programs.
