In a groundbreaking development for the global startup ecosystem, the Startup20 engagement group organized an Embassy meetup at Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog. The objective of the meeting was to garner support and drive impactful policies that will shape the future of startups across G20 nations and beyond.

The participation of representatives from countries like Denmark, Austria, Australia, Sweden, EU, Brazil, Oman, Canada, Indonesia, Mexico, and Estonia made this event a significant milestone in the advancement of the startup landscape.

Building upon Previous Success

The Embassy meetup built upon the momentum generated during the Inception meeting in January and the Sikkim Sabha in March 2023. These previous events provided a platform for extensive consultations and discussions, leading to the formulation of a first public draft of the Policy Communiqué.

The meetup at Atal Innovation Mission allowed participants to offer inputs and comments on the draft, representing their countries' interests and aspirations for nurturing a thriving startup ecosystem.

Global Collaboration for a Strong Startup Ecosystem

The exclusive Startup20-Embassy meeting brought together representatives responsible for startup-related agendas from various countries. Their collective wisdom and active engagement in discussions on recommendations and policy directives aim to foster the development of a robust global startup ecosystem.

The participants explored ways to effectively communicate the Policy Communiqué to stakeholders in their respective nations, with a focus on gaining support and enacting relevant policies.

Driving Consensus and Collaboration

A key aspect of the meetup was to seek a common consensus among the G20 countries regarding the draft Policy Communiqué. The leadership of G20 nations in the startup ecosystem was highlighted as a driving force behind finalizing the document. By ensuring agreement and alignment among the participating countries, the Startup20 Engagement Group aims to set a benchmark for collaboration in shaping policies for startups worldwide.

Acknowledging Contributions and Looking Ahead

Dr. Chintan Vaishnav, India's Startup20 Chair, expressed his excitement and gratitude for the enthusiastic participation of embassy representatives at the G20-Startup20 Embassy meetup. He emphasized the invaluable insights and contributions of the participants, which are expected to play a pivotal role in driving the growth and success of startups globally. Dr. Vaishnav firmly believes that the policies shaped through this collaborative effort will set the stage for a vibrant and thriving global startup ecosystem.

Setting the Stage for Progress

The success of the G20 Startup20-Embassy meetup on Startup20 Policy Communiqué has set a promising stage for further collaboration and progress in the startup ecosystem. As the Startup20 engagement group continues its work, it aims to establish a benchmark for the structure and evolution of the startup ecosystem worldwide. With upcoming events, including the highly anticipated gathering in Goa on June 3 and 4, 2023, followed by the final summit scheduled in Gurugram on July 4 and 5, 2023, the future looks bright for startups around the globe.
